Expect the unexpected

Yeah, I know, cheezy title, but it FITS, I promise!!

Last Friday I had my weekend planned out, and I was filling out my refrigerator calender for August. I looked at it in satisfaction when completed. A busy month, but lots of fun mixed in with work. I'm going to a friends cabin at Priest Lake this weekend, I'm hoping to go to the beach with my sister in a few weeks, I have a week of vacation coming up AND my daughter turns 4!!!

It also appears that there will be forward progress in my stand still and wait life in the next month. There is court on Thursday to decipher what it was the judge actually ordered in the beginning of June. The ex is supposed to be moving out of the house at some point this month so it can be prepared to put it on the market...YEAH!!! It appears Bella has been accepted to St. Thomas More for preschool next year (not sure about how I'm going to afford it, but she's in). And did I mention, she turns 4!?!

Ahhh...satisfaction I thought. A healthy agenda for a month I'd say. And then the phone rang. I was selected for an interview for a job I'd applied for in early June. What's that? Oh, the interview is on Monday? And today is Friday? AGH!!! The beginning of the schedule change...

Saturday I woke up planning on spending the day getting my apartment cleaned and ready for my parents who were coming to visit until Tuesday in hopes to help get some of my things out of my house, and some of his things out of my apartment. I was paying bills, praising Bella for ACTUALLY playing by herself when the phone rang again. It was a friend that I've wanted to get together with for awhile who wanted to meet me at Riverfront park with her kids. OF COURSE we'll be there!! So quick shower, pack a few treats later, Bella and I were off. Turns out it was the parks birthday, so everything was 50 cents. Bella and I spent to whole day down there had a great time, and rushed back to get the house semi clean.

Sunday went basically as planned. Breakfast, shopping, church..Not many surprises.

Monday, interview day. I was unexpectedly nervous. I'm not sure about the job, so at first I wasn't really too nervous..then I got there. And they unexpectedly asked me for references, and there were unexpectedly 6 interviewers. If I had to give myself a score of 1 being good, 10 being bad, I'd say I was a five. I leave it in God's hands.. anyways....

Even more unexpecteds as Monday rolled on, but I'm too tired to blog about them all. Nothing major.. Except we weren't allowed access to any of the stuff my parents came over to help me get. No surprises there!

This morning, I woke up expecting to say goodbye to my parents and head up to work, come home relax, take a walk and meet a friend tonight for her birthday. Huh-uh....didn't happen. Car troubles. Of course, it's a KIA what do I expect. Just when I appreciate it again, the check engine light comes on again..Well I have been ignoring the fact that it sticks itself into 4 wheel low, but it always unsticks itself within a few minutes...and the gas gage goes to empty once I hit half a tank, so maybe NOT so unexpected..Luckily my parents were still in town so I called them and I took it into Altons, who said they'd have it looked at in two hours.

Meanwhile, my lawyer calls and tells me she wants me to appear with her in court...check off schedule for Thursday...must have car by Thursday...

Hours pass, phone call to Altons, they need to open up the dash..more money, more time. My parents weren't going to leave me without a car. So we problem solved all kinds of solutions...none that really worked, but it passed the time. My parents have been toying with the idea of getting a Forester for quite a while, and figuring out a deal that would get me their Outback.. but I was supposed to trade in or sell the Kia first. Can't be done with a check engine light on..At one point I thought I was going to be riding squished in the middle of them for the six hour drive back to Monte, and turning around in one of their cars..It sounded painful, but do-able to me..

The rest of the unexpected day went like this....sit and wait, go to Subaru dealership, sit and wait, get hit on by salesman while waiting for mom and dad to deal with theirs (I turned unexpectedly red I'm sure...I'm going to have to practice when I'm ready to get back in THAT game), sit and wait, go on test drive, sit and wait, phone call from Altons, they need the car another day, sit and wait, drive my parents new Forester home while Dad drove the truck. THAT was not the expected outcome of THIS day.. but I get to drive it for two weeks until I can take it over there, and then I am a new owner of a used Subaru Outback!! I get to join the crowd of happy Outback owners, I'm so excited, but nervous to be short on the road again...
And I have to figure out how to sell the Kia...

Oh, and mom and dad stayed another night.

If this is how August is starting...I may erase the whole refrigerator calendar and fill in the blanks AFTER the day is completed...

This sounds like the story of my life!! Just when you think you have it all figured out, BAM! In the blink of an eye, it's all different. It's great you've learned how to "roll with the punches!" took me a while, but now the unexpected is the expected in my book!! =)

And congrats on the Outback! I'm jealous! ;)

Expect the unexpected? Do you watch Big Brother? Anyway, isn't it great that we have families that can help us out! And did I see that you are coming over to my side of the state?
